MERCURY IN VACCINES AND THE AUTISM EPIDEMIC: A MEDICAL CONTROVERSY

It appears that you're the one we've been waiting for. Thank you. I can only imagine the resistance that you have run into exploring this topic. My wife, an immunization nurse, was injured by a Hepatitis B vaccine. It was a pretty clear cut case....take the shot and suffer from excruciating pain in the next few hours. She eventually ended up in leg braces. She was diagnosed with neurological and immunological problems that will affect her for life. Through physical therapy she has worked her way out of leg braces. As far as the Vaccine Compensation Fund goes, we have been waiting seven years with no hearing date in site. The more people that get funneled into this program the longer the wait. It truly is just being used as a buffer to keep people out of the courts until the laws can be changed. Mr. Frist keeps trying to lessen the benefits of the program and HHS can change the qualification rules at any time. It is just not working. Although we are not directly involved in the autism issue, we see so many similarities that we support the fight 100%. The power of this issue, if played out appropriately, could play on both sides of the partisan aisle.  The drug companies are evil is a winner with the Democrats.  All my Democrat friends refuse to acknowledge the government's role in this and blame the drug companies.  My Republican friends view the government (CDC/FDA) as inept as the primary issue in those circles and although they blame to some extent the drug companies, do not wish to see a tobacco settlement.  The complicity of the government in all of this and the need to have a domestic pharmaceutical industry makes this such a tough issue.  At the end of the day, Congress will need to establish a program to deal with this.  Perhaps that will happen as the drug companies go down in the first few litigations.  But your story has now entered the culture. Congratulations!. ================  Just saw the Imus piece with David Kirby and it was wonderful.  How can Imus wonder why the likes of Santorum and Frist would attempt to misinform the public about this issue and at the same time pass legislation insulating Big Pharma from litigation?  Imus came out against Bush calling him an idiot, etc.  He certainly isn't timid.  Why doesn't he just crucify these guys for what they are doing? I'm beginning to believe that an honest Republican doesn't exist today. IMUS brought out that there are 4 bills pending in Congress identifying the drug companies. The IMUS show also uncovered the fact that the Drug Industry gave $250,000 to the Frisk champagne and that a check for $10,000 appeared in his inbox the day after he finished writing one of the 4 bills. It's also wrong to have our State Courts cut out of the more important issues. I've pointed out to them that they have the right to request thimerosal-free vaccines for their baby -- and that, even then, they should scrutinize fine print on the packages. I haven't yet read your book, but it's clear to me from what you said on IMUS that many political leaders in the federal government are focusing more on limiting the potential damage to drug companies' bottom lines than on limiting the damage to children harmed by the companies' products. First, perhaps the single biggest step that could be taken is to show the world overwhelming numbers of autistic children that have heavy metal poisoning.  I want to have my son tested, but would like to know where to go and where to send the results?? Second, evidence beyond anecdotal parent testimony of the impact of chelation on large groups of Autistic children would also be helpful.   Most people on the behavioral science end of autism see chelation, gluten/casein diets, and other treatments as quackery without empirical scientific data to support it’s effectiveness. As a parent, I have been following the mercury controversy for some time.  What I have not seen are the numbers or percentage of autistic children with mercury poisoning.  I am not a scientist, but perhaps when it passes the blood/brain barrier, it becomes harder to predict, but if you can detect mercury in a large number of children…there is your smoking gun.. Charitable efforts should be focused to provide free hair, urine, and fecal analysis for as many autistic children as possible that were born during the times at which the mercury levels became unsafe in our vaccines.  ================  I heard you on Imus this morning.. What if people recognized that the national IQ (and perhaps that of their children) may have been reduced by the vaccine-related mercury exposure? This decrease has been well-documented for lead and our comparisons on methionine synthase indicate that the ethylmerucyr (thimerosal) level in the blood after a vaccination produces an inhibition that is equivalent to lead levels shown to reduce IQ. Eroding our intellectual capital, as well as burdening the healthcare system. People should care, even if not for humanitarian reasons. My wife and I just had our first child , he is 17 days old. Unfortunately, I did not know about Thimerosal when he was born and he did have his first Hepetitis vaccination the day he was born, which i have since found out did contain Thimerosal. I've since told me pediatrician that I want him to have only vaccinations that are free of Mercury and other preservatives. While, he did say that some drug companies did make them he said they were unavailable and he couldn’t get them. I was told they are made in such small amounts that they are impossible to get. Is this true? If not how do I get them for our child if my doctor says he cannot? Should I Just switch doctors or is there info i can provide our doctor with to obtain vaccines that are safe for my son? Thank you for your time. Stakes are too high. ================  Hi David, I have a 5 1/2 year old autistic son.  We live in England (although I am American)and there is not much information available here about the link between mercury and autism. My father called me this morning from the US because he saw you on television and wanted me to have a look at your website.  I have read a report also linking the Anti-D injections they give rhesus negative moms during pregnancy to autism because they contain mercury as well.  Do you know if this is true? We have the names of a couple well known labs in the UK who do mercury testing and are curious if there is a specific test we need to ask for? Also, do you know of any organisations in the UK that are doing research on this topic and know what to do if high levels of mercury are found? I have daughter of 9yrs old, Mild Autism, no speech. She had speech before age 2 years old but at 2 it was gone. I looked into the Vaccine, asked doctor, so he pulled out the Med. Books shows me the section where it says “there is no medical evidence that vaccine caused autism”. Well that never left my mind about the vaccine and was hoping for compensation for this medical error and found out the statue of limitations had ran out. But you shed the light back on that again. THANKS ! ..and also looking into the “cures”  things that may help her get back to nearer normal( B vitamins, THIOL, etc ) or at least talking. Any improvement helps. I am the mother of three girls, all autistic.  My girls are beautiful, precious and actually quite a bit of fun for the most part. I look forward to hearing you speak next month in Jenkintown, Pa. (Philadelphia). Our son is 6 1/2 years old and was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum more than four years ago. Just yesterday I awoke to my local public radio station doing a story about how mercury emissions from factories are doing harm to the wildlife populations in forested areas! My stomach turned. I have long held the belief that although my son's childhood vaccines may not have caused his autism, they were strong contributors to "pushing him over the neurological limit" to quote you. Our son seemed to develop "normally" until after the round of vaccines he received at sixteen months which included, and I can kick myself for this, DTaP, MMR and Hib, all given at the same visit. We watched our happy, sweet, food-loving child, who had developed three-word phrases in speech by fourteen months ("I want soup"), regress to being non-verbal, unable to transition from one activity to the next without a tantrum, and unwilling to eat anything but carbohydrates. Please continue your search for an answer - I know we will. ================  David, if you recall, when I emailed you after your 1/11 presentation, I said you had a bestseller.  This really is an epidemic.  Epidemic + truth + national exposure = book sales .  I think you'lll need a lot more than 37,000 books. Congratulations again. ================  LETTER TO CHRIS MATTHEWS: Dear Mr. Matthews: I'm sure by now you're aware of the overwhelming response to the Don Imus interview with David Kirby with this morning.  Hundreds of thousands of parents of autistic children have literally been waiting for years for SOMEONE to do what Don Imus did this morning: let someone who's done the research, present the facts.  David Kirby does not have conflict-of-interest ties to the pharmaceutical industry or with our mandated vaccine program.  That's never happened before.  It amazes me that the media time and time again has allowed someone from the FDA/CDC/IOM to have the last word. These are the people who approved and mandated the vaccines with a deadly neurotoxin. These are also the people with 700 conflict-of-interest ties to the drug industry. With everything at stake, they will always claim vaccines with thimeorsal are safe. There is no way they could admit they've allowed an entire generation of children to be poisoned.  My deepest desire is that this tragedy will end and that the truth will come out. There are proven methods to detoxify these children and help them.  As long as we deny they were affected by mercury exposure, their suffering will continue. You have the power to help get the truth out.    One in every 166 children in America is autistic, 1 in 6 has ADD/ADHD. I ask you to have David Kirby on your show and let him present his research. That could be the greatest act of compassion of your entire life.
